Frequently Asked Questions
What is Home Mastery?
Home Mastery™ is homeowner preparation for Australians planning to build or renovate. It is built around the commitment points of a project, so you can prepare for each one before it arrives. Led by a registered architect, it turns professional building knowledge into clear, stage-by-stage guidance and practical tools.
What are The Layline Principle and The LOG System?
The layline is the line from which one well-timed turn sets a direct course to where you want to arrive. The term comes from sailing, where a boat cannot sail straight into the wind, so to reach a point upwind it sails at an angle to the wind instead. Once it reaches the layline, one last turn points it directly at its destination. Experienced sailors see that line long before they reach it and commit to it at the right moment. A home project is a journey with moments of the same kind. The Layline Principle names those moments: a few critical decisions determine the course of a home project. Prepare for each one before it arrives, and the course is yours to set; without that preparation, it is often set by default. We call those decisions commitment points, and The LOG System is how each one is worked through: Home Mastery locates it before it arrives, shows you the part that is yours, whether or not you engage a professional, and guides you through it while its options are still open.
What does Home Mastery mean by preparation?
At Home Mastery, preparation has a specific meaning: understanding each commitment point of your project before it arrives, while its options are still open, so that every decision comes with a reason you can explain.
Who is Home Mastery for?
Home Mastery is designed for motivated homeowners who want to understand the building or renovation process without becoming technical professionals. It supports people preparing a project, comparing options or working through decisions during design, construction and completion.
What will the membership include?
The membership will bring together the Home Mastery Foundations Program, the Knowledge Library and the Toolkits, with a Project Assistant that keeps your place and your saved material. How each will be offered, and at what price, will be announced before membership opens.
When will Home Mastery membership launch?
Membership has not opened yet. Subscribe to the newsletter to be told when it opens, and to receive practical guidance and free resources as they are released.
How is the learning structured?
The Foundations Program is designed to follow the homeowner journey in eight stages, from setting the course of the project through budgeting, design, approvals, construction, completion and long-term protection, and its lessons teach each commitment point before you reach it.
Does Home Mastery replace professional advice?
No. Home Mastery provides general education to help you understand decisions and organise information. It does not replace project-specific architectural, legal, engineering, certification, financial or licensed trade advice.
Is Home Mastery relevant across Australia?
The core learning is designed for Australian homeowners. Approval processes, licensing, contracts and other legal requirements can vary by state, territory and project, so current local requirements should be confirmed with the relevant authority or qualified professional.
